October 24th was proclaimed World Polio Day in the Township of Scugog by Mayor Wilma Wotten!
To honour the occasion, the End Polio Now flag was raised at the Municipal Office, demonstrating our shared commitment to eradicating polio. While polio cases have been reduced by 99.9% globally, the fight continues. Polio remains endemic in Afghanistan and Pakistan, and cases persist in areas with recent low vaccination rates, such as Gaza.
Rotary International, alongside the WHO, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, and governments worldwide, is dedicated to a polio-free future.
