Supporting Our Youth in Innovative Ways

High School can be one of the hardest parts of growing up -- peer pressure, trying to figure out who are you and who you want to be ... Now more than ever, with the added pressures of Social Media and the Internet, teenagers need a "safe place". Young Life and it's dedicated staff and volunteers have found an innovative way to fill that void and create "safe places" for our youth. John Tullett, with Young Life Port Perry, gave a moving presentation about the importance of Young Life in our community. 

Young Life is about caring adults reaching out and investing their lives by building friendships with teenagers. Since Young Life Canada began in 1954, its leaders have cared enough to leave the comfort of their adult worlds and enter the arena of high school and junior high school life. You will find Young Life leaders sitting in the stands at hockey games, walking the streets of inner-city neighbourhoods, driving carloads of kids to the shopping malls or tutoring students in study centres after school. 

There are currently over 60 Scugog students in Young Life. Young Life is in 90 countries in the world and this organization is reaching 1,435,889 kids worldwide!

Thank you John for helping to raise Rotarian's awareness of the social issues of teenagers today and for introducing us to an amazing organization that is much needed and much appreciated!!!
