Sophie Raae our youth exchange student from Denmark, arrived at the end of August and is quickly settling in to life in Port Perry. She is attending classes at Port Perry High School and is living with her first host family Dr. Merrilee Brown, Steve Gray, Alastair and Sophie Gray.

 

A number of the Rotary Club members attended an evening at the University of Ontario Institute of Technology on Thursday, September 15^th to recognize donors who support the university and hear about future expansion plans.  The event took place at Windfield Farms where the famous race horse Northern Dancer, is laid to rest. The Rotary Club has been supporting students from the Township of Scugog for a number of years, through bursaries that are matched dollar for dollar by the university.

 

Another successful Fall Classic was held on Tuesday, September 13^th at the Royal Ashburn Golf Club.  There were 104 golfers who participated in the tournament to raise funds for community projects including the Seniors Christmas Dinner.
