
On March 4th, the Rotary Club of Port Perry had the privilege of welcoming Scugog Fire Chief Mike Matthews for an insightful presentation on the Master Fire Plan.
Chief Matthews took the time to answer questions from Rotary members, covering a range of topics including fire procedures, training, and the specialized equipment that helps keep our community safe.
As part of Scugog Fire and Emergency Services’ ongoing Community Engagement initiative, Chief Matthews emphasized the department’s commitment to collaboration. He highlighted the strong working relationship between Station 6 and other emergency services across Durham Region, showcasing the teamwork and coordination that ensure an effective response to emergencies.
Rotary members gained valuable behind-the-scenes knowledge about the rigorous training firefighters undergo, the advanced tools they use, and the strategic planning that goes into protecting residents and businesses in Scugog.
