President's Message ~ March 2015

This month we will be awakening to the sounds of and temperatures of Spring.  What better time to turn our attention to Literacy and the awakening of the human mind.  Without the power that being literate brings, understanding who and what we are is greatly reduced.  Later this month, Richard Mewhinney, Chair of District 7070 Literacy Committee will speak to our club on the District plans for Literacy in 7070.  In addition, don’t forget the District Literacy Seminar, set up by our own Dennis Bayley, taking place at The Scugog Library on Friday, May 8^th.  Plan to be there!

We now have only a few weeks left to complete the plans for our largest fundraiser, Spring Gala 2015, (April 12^th).  We are assured by the committee, headed by Joanne Fowler, that new and exciting items for the auctions are being added to the lineup.  This will make this year’s Gala potentially, the best yet.  Of course, this all hinges on getting people there to bid on these exciting items.  I urge all members to sell your tickets!
