As we begin this new Rotary Year I would like to start by thanking Past President Bob Strickert and his Board of Directors for their excellent management of the club in 2013/14 and for handing it off to the new group in great shape. Much was accomplished during last year and the 2014/15 board will have its work cut out for it keeping up the performance that this club expects. Well, I want to assure you all that we have an excellent Board who are talented, committed and determined to do the very best for The Rotary Club of Port Perry.

We are looking forward to District Governor Brian Thompson coming to our club on July 23rd for his annual visit. As a result, the Board is busily finalizing the Budget and detailing the plans for the coming year. It is fair to say that we are going to be a very active group with many “projects” to be accomplished. We are starting the year with 37 active members who are dedicated to “Service Above Self” for the good of our local and international communities.

Looking further down the road, August 17th will once again bring “Seedooer teams” to Port Perry to compete for prizes at Aquarama. Lets get a full 20 teams of riders to race around the water course on Lake Scugog and raise as much money as we can for our community projects.

September 16th is the date for The Rotary Club of Port Perry Golf Tournament in support of our Seniors’ Christmas Dinner. Every year we host over 200 appreciative seniors and folks with other challenges at a time when celebration is the theme. The more golfers we get to the tournament the better we can provide for this timely Dinner.

Much is planned to further our work in Rotary but above all enjoying our “work” and having fun doing it is very much what we want to accomplish. If we all do our best we can and will “Light Up Rotary” which is R.I President Gary Huang’s theme for 2014/15.
