On Wednesday, February 19th, 2025, we had the privilege of hearing from Richard Mewhinney of the Newmarket Rotary Club. Pictured here with Terry Coyne, Richard shared his inspiring journey of service in Uganda.
Since his first visit in 2009, Richard has traveled to Uganda 27 times, most recently in April 2023. His work at the Ongutoi Health Centre has been transformative—helping implement a rainwater collection system for drip irrigation in an orange orchard. The revenue from this initiative will provide long-term free healthcare to the local community.
Beyond Ongutoi, Richard has contributed to numerous projects, offering expertise to Ugandan Rotary Clubs under the direction of Uganda Rotary Water Plus (URWP), the country's National Water Committee. His dedication embodies the true spirit of Rotary's mission to create lasting change worldwide.
