Camp Scugog Project

Over two sunny Saturdays in late Spring, over a dozen Port Perry Rotarians descended on the United Church's Lake Scugog Camp to repair and prep a counsellor's cabin for yet another camping season.

Roof shingles were removed and new ones nailed down, two fresh coats of stain were applied to exterior walls, a new painted plywood floor was installed along with IKEA shelving .... and the rotted front door replaced with a cedar entrance.

The project was completed with the installation of a new front porch with seating for two.

The camp is located on St. Christopher's Road, just east of Nestleton on the south shore of Lake Scugog. Owned and operated for over 80 years by the United Church, this camp welcomes deserving kids, and their families, for a 7 to 10 day respite from inner city challenges.

For all Rotarians involved, this was a chance to either prove they had ample renovation skills ....... or that they could rise, once again, to meet a worthy challenge with new ones.

Congratulations to one and all.
