Covid 19 appeal
Rotary Club of Port Perry

Good morning. I hope you are safe, and making every possible effort to protect your family and yourself from this Covid 19 virus. Today, we find ourselves in a scary and uncertain time.  As we look back on the past few weeks, I am grateful to have seen the increased action and instruction from our governments at all levels. I appreciate the difficult task they have as they lead us to make substantial and difficult decisions to self isolate and distance ourselves to reduce the spread of the virus.  I also think about, and admire the courage and dedication of the front line workers and their families. I am truly grateful for their willingness to put themselves at risk as they care for those victimized by the virus. Thank you to everyone working hard to put this crisis behind us.

What are we doing to help?

The Rotary Club of Port Perry is hoping we can help with those institutions that will help those in our community most impacted by this event.  We are asking those with the ability and desire to help us raise funds to support: Operation Scugog, Community Care Durham, Denise House, North House, Grandview Kids, Lakeridge Health.   (I have listed a couple of potential destinations. Just ideas)

Our goal is to raise $30,000 (I made this number up) by May 15th(this too).  We will be directing 1/6th(OMG, I love making stuff up!) of what we raise to each of the institutions mentioned above. We hope we can count on your support.

We have set up several ways you can assist us and our community:

Cheques: please mail cheques payable to the Rotary Club of Port Perry, Box 711, Port Perry, On, L9L1A6

Paypal:

Etransfer: Occo, please complete this part

For donations over $20, we will be issuing a charitable donation receipt.

Our club typically raises and donates over $100,000 (Occo, you can correct this if you wish) each year.  Two of our biggest fundraisers are the Rotary Gala Dinner and Auction (April 25th) and the Rotary Waterfront Ribfest (July 24, 25, 26) have been canceled this year.  As intrepid community contributors we hope you will take this opportunity to help us and make sure that our most vulnerable in our community feel our support.

Please let me say, I am only asking for those who are able to help. I completely understand that you, your family, or your business may be struggling under the duress of our situation.  Certainly, I realize not everyone has the ability during these difficult times. If there is something we might do for you, or someone you know, please don’t hesitate to reach out to our club.  If we are able, we would be eager to help, or find someone who can.

Sincerely,

Michael Stewart
